An Update on Schoep

This is 19 year old Shep being cradled in his father’s arms earlier this week in Lake Superior. Shep falls asleep every night when he is carried into the lake. By the way, John rescued Shep as an 8 month old puppy, and he’s been by his side through many adventures.

Schoep turned 20 on Friday.  You may have seen the video of the dog being cradled by his owner, John, in a lake.  John takes him every day to relieve his arthritis pain and help him relax.  That was went Schoep was 15.  John has kept up his daily routine and Schoep is now 20.

Schoep is also receiving laser treatments and it seems to be helping.

When BJ was hurt from his fall, he had laser treatments and he is a happy dog now.  No pain.

  1. 20 years old? That is virtually unheard of for a dog! What a lucky doggy!

    1. That's what I thought. John is taking very good care of Schoep. There is hope for dogs with arthritis to have no pain.

    1. He should write a book or a blog telling us what he does.

  3. I've so enjoyed following John n' Schoep via Facebook ... and honestly, got choked up a bit at the outpouring of love and support on his birthday... something like 30,000 likes and over 10,000 comments in the first 3 hours! Overwhelming, isn't it, how so many people all over the world can come together like this for the love of a pooch?
    Hugs to sweet BJ!

    1. When it comes to someone going overboard for a pet, people just extend themselves. What John does for Schoep is pure love.

  4. Laser is great. Delilah had it when she had some back pain, that and losing some weight really helped her.

    1. It also worked for BJ for his muscle pain from falling out of my arms. He also had chiropractic treatments because back and neck were thrown out of alignment.
