BJ and I have been off the grid for a few weeks.  I've been s sick.

I need some help with this.

BJ is 12 1/2 and in good health.  I've noticed a behavior change recently that has me concerned.  BJ has been hanging out in the bedroom by himself a lot.  He used to sit with me or at least be in the same room.  Now I find him alone a lot.  He is energetic, and is eating his raw food diet with vigor.  He runs toward his leash when I  say the word "out" or into the kitchen when I say "cookie".

Let me know if you've experienced this with your dogs.

I've had a very bad cold for the past three weeks and except for walking BJ, haven't been out much.  I know that dogs are in tune with their humans and "feel" when something is wrong.  BJ must have sensed that something was wrong because he did stay on the bed with me.  Still, he's been quieter lately and I'm beginning to worry.

  1. So sorry to learn you've been down n' out! :(
I've not seen Caraleigh exhibit this type of behavior, BUT(!) I think any deviation is noteworthy ... BJ's really lucky you're so observant. Is there any particular spot in the bedroom in which he goes to rest and reflect?

That said, I think it's really POSITIVE that his appetite and energy are intact, and he's voiding regularly.

I'm anxious to hear how the next few weeks play out!

    1. BJ has high regard for his comfort. So - he mashes up the pillows and settles in; then he moves to the corner of the bed; then he'll move to his bed, then maybe to the floor. In the living room he reflects on the sofa, or the club chair, or his bed.

I'll keep an eye out and keep my blog updated.

  2. Hope you feel better. Maggie will always stay by my side when I have a cold or not feeling well, she will even delay her morning walk if she senses that I am not well.
I would watch BJ for awhile, however Maggie sometimes gets in that mood and will take herself to bed (not her crated, but up to the bedroom) or hang out in a different room. It usually lasts about a day or two, and then she returns to her normal hangouts.

  3. Thanks. He has been joining me a little more the last few days. I'll be taking him for his yearly check up soon and maybe taken some blood tests.
