Black & White Sunday

I don't really play with dog toys unless food is involved. I like big stuffies. Today we were in Bed, Bath & Beyond browsing. I was sitting nicely in the cart set aside for dogs.  They put a mat on the bottom so my nails don't get caught in the openings.

We ended up in the pet section and mom checked out the stuff.  She spotted a food puzzle and bought it for me.  YEAH.   Seek a Treat shows how smart I am because I have to figure out how to get the treats.  Mom puts treats in the cups and a disk slides over the cups to hide the treats.  It's like Three Card Monty only legal.  I must figure out which disk to move to get my treat.  A snap.

According to the box it challenges me and provides mental stimulation and rewards me for being smart.  I had no problem figuring it out.  I found the first two rows and walked away leaving the others because I didn't like the treats mom put in the cups.  She got it and put in better treats and I slid the disks and got my treats.  It's true I was rewarded for being smart.

i love this puzzle.  I play with the disks and I get treats.  How great is that!

Beijing - This is Outrageous

Beijing has a local law that bans BIG & VICIOUS dogs.  The law bans 41 breeds from the city limits.  It also limits their height - it cannot be more than 14".  That means my 20 lb. sweet BJ Pup would be banned.  He's 15" tall.

According to the article the law has been in effect since 1994 and is only now being enforced.  The government claims that the number of people who died from being bitten by a rabid dog was 13, more than double the year before.

With more that 1 million dogs in Beijing, most are not vaccinated for rabies.  So, rather than enforce or create the vaccination laws, they are banning the dogs.

Here's the full article.   Beijing Bans Big & Vicious Dogs

It's Still Hot!

I hate it when mom is right.
This morning I wrote about it being too hot.  Because of the scorching heat we have still been going for short walks in spite of my trying to stay out. This afternoon it was 96 and I had to pee so we went out. Two blocks later, even in the shade I was hot and panting and wanted to go home.

When we got home, I waited in front of my water dish.  Mom knew what I was waiting for.  She gave me fresh water and put ice cubes in it.  It was so refreshing and delicious.

I'm hot.

Mom was right

Scorching Heat

This heat has been ripping me off of my long walks and going to the park.  We're more than 1/2 mile to the park and it's too hot for the two of us.  It's too hot for a long walk also.  So I'm getting gypped.

It was almost 100 out and Mom didn't take me for a very long walk this morning.  Plus, she picked me up when we came to a construction site with metal plates on the ground so I wouldn't burn my paws.

I want to go out and have fun.  Mom says it won't be fun if I get over heated or heatstroke.  So now i just to do the next best thing.

Nothing else to do except look out the window.  And sit at the computer.
Other Dogs are Out.

Some dog is peeing in my spot.

We're writing this post.
Oh, and take a nap.
The best.

The Dreaded Bath

Grrrrrr.
Mom saw a post from her Facebook friend Beth.  She posted a picture of Gizmo her terrier during his bath.  He looked cute but it reminded mom that I needed a bath.  So I got brushed and a bath.  I don't like the water, i don't like the soap, I don't like the cream rinse even though it make me smell very nice. And I had to suffer the indignity of wearing a bathrobe.

I shook off the hood
It's a turtle on my back.

Wimbledon

I don't understand Mom.  First she goes to the ballet to watch all the dancers in their tutus and the men in tights.  Then she sits and watches tennis on the TV.
Sabine Lisicki

She could make things easier and cheaper by watching me dance.  Hold up a cookie and I'll jump up and down and twist and turn.

As for watching a tennis ball go back and forth - we could go to the park and toss me the tennis ball.  I'll bring it back - just once or twice I don't do well with the retrieving part.

Bully Stick is Finshed

i finished the last of my bully stick a few minutes ago.  It was delicious and I loved chewing on it.  i only put it on my bed not on the furniture.

The Last of My Bully Stick

Mom said it was expensive - $7, so I could have it sometimes.  I guess that' better than notimes.

Happy 4th and a Bully Stick

HAPPY 4th.  I got a present.

We couldn't go to the park because it rained again (sigh!).  Instead we went for a long walk and passed Petco's Unleashed store.  Mom felt bad because of the rain, so we went shopping for ME!!!!!!

Our friend was buying bully sticks and I was jumping up and down because I wanted one too.  Mom browsed the ingredients.  (Oh man!) She is so concerned about chemicals and additives that's it's annoying.  Anyway, I when I saw the first sign of an okay, I jumped more and whined.  That usually gets her.

I got my very FIRST bully stick.  :)  It's coiled.  It took almost 13 years, but now I had one.  I couldn't wait to finish our walk and go home.
I'm Waiting
Open the Door Already

I played with it even before I ate my breakfast.  For safe keeping I put it on my bed.  That's my safe place.  No one can touch it.
Bear is Allowed to Touch It
Now I know what all of my blog friends are raving about when they talk of bully sticks.  Me, too.  I have a bully stick. (YEA!)  I just have to keep it of the bed and furniture.
